Vous êtes artiste et vous avez mis en avant un style musical dit Ikoku tradi-urbain. Pourquoi ce choix ?
Je fais de la musique tradi-urbaine, un mélange d'afro-beat avec une coloration Ikoku que j'ai appelée Iko-moderne. On m'avait un peu trop collé l'étiquette d'Ikoku qui se danse au village avec le pagne, avec des feuilles de bananier et tout ce qui va avec. Aujourd’hui, il fallait moderniser et ça se danse en boite.
Depuis le week-end des vidéos de challenge Ikoku sont devenues virales sur la toile. Après le son « la façon dont tu tournes ça » dont vous êtes l’auteur, c'est « la botte » de Zyon Stylei qui fait le buzz. Qu'est-ce que cela suscite en vous en tant que précurseur ?
Précurseur, c'est vrai, mais beaucoup refuse de le reconnaitre. Certes, je ne suis pas celui qui a inventé l'Ikoku, la danse vient de nos ancêtres, c'est notre tradition. Mais je suis celui qui est venu buzzer l'Ikoku. Personne ne pouvait imaginer qu'un son de cette coloration traditionnelle pouvait autant buzzer sur le net. Face à plusieurs tendances telle la Tcham et autres, l'Ikoku s'impose. Je ne peux qu'en être fier, parce que ma mission de changer la donne à eu l’adhésion de mes frères. Désormais, il est possible de mettre de l'Ikoku dans nos musiques modernes. Comme le montre le featuring que j ai fait eu avec NG Bling et Black Attack. Ce n'est pas fini, beaucoup vont continuer à adopter ce style musical.
Un projet de featuring avec Zyon Stylei, ça vous parle ?
Ça ne me gênerait pas de me mettre en featuring avec Zyon. Au contraire, cela aiderait à amener la musique gabonaise toujours plus loin. C’est dommage que dans le domaine musical, nous, artistes gabonais, nous n'avons pas la culture du featuring. Nous nous battons plus pour les titres et la gloire. Mon combat reste celui de valoriser la culture, voila pourquoi je chante en langue punu et je danse l'Ikoku dans mes sons. Et en tant que défenseur de la culture de chez moi, un featuring avec mon petit Zyon Stylei pourrait être une bonne chose pour davantage mettre en avant ce stlyle musical !
Un mot de la fin pour les jeunes aujourd’hui de plus en plus orientés vers les styles et cultures importées ?
Je dirai que la culture ne ment pas ! C'est notre ADN, c’est inné, on ne triche pas avec. Vous voyez vous-même avec les challenges sur la toile. Beaucoup n'ont jamais éte au village, mais dès qu'ils écoutent un son Ikokou ou Elone, ils savent déjà sur quel pas danser Si nous renions notre culture, ce sont nos origines que nous dévalorisons. Or, la mondialisation, c'est le marché des échanges tous azimuts. Il faut savoir se vendre, et pour le faire, il faut offrir du nouveau et non du déjà vu ou du déjà entendu. Personnellement, je peux réaffirmer ma fierté de voir que ma mission est sur le chemin de l'accomplissement.
