Glen Patrick Moundende de son vivant.
Cinq mois après son assassinat par l'armée gabonaise, Glen Patrick Moundéndé sera enfin inhumé ce week-end à Mandji, le chef-lieu du département de Ndolou, sa ville natale. Sa dépouille est prévue sortir de la morgue de Lambaréné, ce jeudi 16 novembre 2023. Pour rappel, Glen Patrick Moundéndé, âgé de 34 ans, décide, le 18 juillet 2023 de prendre en otage deux employés d'une société pétrolière pour porter à l'attention des dirigeants, les revendications sociales et dénoncer la maltraitance dont sont victimes les jeunes du département par les sociétés exerçant dans la zone. Il va en effet évoquer (la marginalisation des jeunes dans les emplois au sein des sociétés, le travail non payé, le manque d’écoles, de soin et la corruption dans sa région) alors que celle-ci est pourtant riche en pétrole. Informées, les autorités militaires vont lancer un assaut au cours duquel, un échange de coups de feu surviendra. Un autre assaut sera lancé dans la nuit aux environs de 2h30. Les deux otages vont finalement être libérés sains et saufs.
Traqué par les agents des forces de l'ordre lourdement armés, le jeune homme de 34 ans est tué en plein sommeil dans un campement. Son corps sera transporté à Lambaréné où il sera abandonné à la morgue. Une situation qui va susciter de vives réactions chez les populations gabonaises. Pour manifester leur mécontentement, les parents, amis et connaissances du défunt vont organiser quelques manifestations notamment des sit-in, des marches et des déclarations. Ces manifestations ne vont susciter aucune réponse favorable du régime d'Ali Bongo.
