La présentation officielle de la première livraison a été organisée par la société Ivindo Iron, filiale du géant minier australien Fortescue Metals group devant le Premier Ministre Raymond Ndong Sima et du Ministre des Mines Hervé Patrick Opiangah. Le Radisson Blu a prêté son cadre ce lundi 4 mars 2023 à la cérémonie de présentation de la première expédition du minerai de fer de Bélinga, devant les membres du gouvernement, dont le Premier ministre, Raymond Ndong Sima et le Ministre des Mines, Hervé Patrick Opiangah.
Au cours de cette rencontre solennelle, il s'est agi pour les responsables d'Ivindo Iron, l'entreprise adjudicataire de présenter leur première réalisation effectuée moins d’un an après la signature de convention minière avec l'Etat Gabon. Cette première expédition marque une étape clé dans la phase de développement du secteur du fer au Gabon.
Le Directeur Général de cette entreprise, Eric Épée, a assuré que cette phase initiale du projet fournira des informations majeures qui aideront à le mettre sur la voie d'une réussite future. Il précisera par la suite qu'une importante campagne de forage est en cours et que les résultats continuent de montrer que ledit projet à un potentiel de grande envergure, avec un minerai de haute teneur.
Dans son laïus, le Directeur Général d'Ivindo Iron a fait un rappel des engagements pris par sa société, à savoir offrir de grandes opportunités au pays en matière d'employabilité.
"En tant que Directeur Général, je suis fier d'affirmer qu'il y'a plus de 400 gabonais qui nous accompagnent depuis le lancement de ce projet. Je pus vous assurer que cette évolution va continuer dans les mois et années à venir", a-t-il rassuré.
Toujours d'après lui, une des retombées économiques sera marquée par un investissement de plus 30 millions de dollars pour soutenir les communautés rurales.
Avant de renchérir :"Notre objectif fixe est de nous rassurer que nous respecterons notre engagement ".
Assurément, les choses semblent être parties pour aller jusqu'au bout. Ce qui implique que le projet du gisement de fer de Belinga dans sa phase d'exploitation connaîtra une importante augmentation en termes de volumes de fer forés et d'emplois directs et indirects générés au profit des nationaux.
Selon les estimations, le gisement de fer de Belinga serait 4500 kilomètres carrés de superficie, 2 millions de production annuelle.
Précisons que le gisement de fer de Belinga est l’un des plus grands gisements de minerai de fer à haute teneur non développés au monde. Des études globales liées au projet se poursuivent afin de faire progresser les conceptions potentielles d’un développement à grande échelle. C’est donc un projet qui va avoir un impact sur la province de l’Ogooué-Ivindo, mais aussi sur tout le pays.
