Le scandale qui révèle au grand public les abus sexuels dont ont été victimes plusieurs jeunes footballeurs gabonais de la part de Patrick Assoumou Eyi, alias Capelo, ancien entraîneur des Panthères U17, ne cesse de susciter les réactions. C’est le cas de l'ancien international gabonais, Brice Makaya. Dans une vidéo devenue virale sur la toile, Brice Makaya témoigne contre l'ancien coach Capelo dont il fut l'adjoint. Pour lui, Capelo est un pédophile dont les faits étaient connus de tous les dirigeants du football gabonais.

Brice Makaya est une fois de plus sorti de son silence pour témoigner contre l'ancien Coach des Panthères U17, par ailleurs son ancien Chef.
«Capello Assoumou Eyi, c’est quelqu’un qui a répété plusieurs fois ces agressions sexuelles vis-à-vis des enfants. Tout le monde le sait ! Ces gens du même système, ces gens du football gabonais [...] Ce système est implanté depuis parce que moi j’ai été à l’intérieur de ce système. Et j’ai dénoncé plusieurs fois. J’ai même dénoncé auprès du bureau fédéral à plusieurs reprises, parce que pour réveiller les consciences j'avais été nommé en 2014 comme sélectionneur adjoint des panthères U17», a-t-il indiqué.
Brice Makaya, très bavard, a dénoncé la complicité entretenue entre les responsables de la fédération gabonaise de football et des ministres qui fermaient les yeux et bouchaient les oreilles sur les abus sexuels présumés de Patrick Assoumou Eyi.
Dans ses dénonciations, Brice Makaya indique en outre que les familles des victimes étaient informées des faits. Mais malgré les dénonciations faites par les victimes, les parents n'étaient jamais allés au bout des poursuites judiciaires craignant de possibles représailles. « Les parents des gamins, tout le monde savait... Les gens savaient ce qui se passait dans le football gabonais [...] Vous comprenez que c’est un réseau mafieux qui est implanté depuis le sommet. Il existerait donc bien un géant réseau pédophile dans le football gabonais et Patrick Assoumou Eyi n’est que la face visible de cette situation », ajoute-t-il.
Au dernière nouvelle, le présumé pédophile aurait été arrêté à Ntoum. Conduit par les agents de la police judiciaire, il devrait être gardé à vue en attendant d'être placé sous mandat de dépôt à la prison centrale de Libreville. Mais beaucoup craignent que ses soutiens tapis au sommet de l'État ne s'investissent afin de faire classer le dossier.
