L' échange entre le ministre et les responsable de la société.
Une rencontre visant à faire un point sur la relance des activités du projet industriel Mabounié a réuni le lundi 4 décembre dernier le président du Conseil d'administration de la société Maboumine, Christian Kerrangal et M. Boulingui, directeur général de la société, autour du ministre de Mines, Hervé Patrick Opiangah.
A la faveur d’une réunion qui s'est tenue au cabinet du ministre, à Libreville, les responsables de la société Mabounié et le ministre des Mines Hervé Patrick Opiangah ont échangé sur les conditions d’une possible relance de l’exploitation du gisement Mabounié, situé dans la province du Moyen-Ogooué.
D’après la cellule communication du ministère des Mines, il était question pour le gouvernement et l’opérateur économique de trouver une stratégie, de commun accord, sur les mécanismes qui vont favoriser la relance de ce projet mis en arrêt depuis quelques temps.
" On est venu faire une visite de mise au point en ce qui concerne le projet Mabounié. Voir quelles étaient les perspectives, et qu'est-ce qu'il était possible de faire. Non seulement pour préserver le site, mais aussi pour relancer sérieusement ce projet dans les années à venir", a déclaré Christian Kerrangal.
Mabounié est un gisement considéré comme un véritable scandale géologique lié au fait de la présence de plus d'une vingtaine d'éléments de valeur. En effet, ce gisement contient notamment du niobium, des terres rares, l'uranium, la titane, le tantale et scandium. Des éléments pour la plupart hautement stratégiques, en raison de leur importance économique, de leur offre limitée, et de leurs domaines d'application en pleine croissance.
Le potentiel économique de ce gisement avait été confirmé par une étude de faisabilité préliminaire réalisée en 2016. Le projet présente un taux de rentabilité Interne (TRI) compris entre 18 et 19%. Ainsi, la production annuelle de 14.500 tonnes de ferro niobium et 18.000 tonnes de terres rares générerait un chiffre d'affaire de 1500 millions de dollars US, soit environ 950 milliards de francs CFA par an.
C'est fort de ce qui précède que le Ministre Herve Patrick Opiangah a rassuré ses hôtes quant à la prise en compte de leur sollicitation. Le membre du gouvernement a instruit ses services à travailler de concert avec les ministères concernés pour la relance urgente des activités de ce projet.
