Ils ont présenté la mise en place de cette zone économique comme la révolution du siècle à même de transformer le tissu économique du pays. Non seulement, les prouesses économiques de cette zone spéciale sont toujours attendues, mais en plus l’actualité à la GSEZ est désormais marquée par les actes de maltraitance de certains employeurs sur les agents.
L’affaire Victor Ambe, du nom de cet ouvrier de nationalité camerounaise qui a été violemment tabassé par son superviseur chinois le 28 novembre a été le détonateur d’une série de révélations. Si la direction les responsables de la société AVIC-Internationale spécialisée dans les BTP et l’Administrateur général de la Zone économique (Igor Simard), vont l’un après l’autre, publier des communiqués d’excuses en plus d’informer du limogeage immédiat du superviseur chinois responsable de l’agression, d’autres employés vont eux aussi monter au créneau pour dénoncer les actes de maltraitance dans la zone.
Olam au banc des accusés
La société Singapourienne Olam est au quotidien accusée de pratiques peu orthodoxes sur ses employés : contrat de journalier précaire, absence de couverture médicale, rythme de travail insoutenable, salaires misérables… la société dont l’actuel directeur de cabinet du président de la République, Théophile Ogandaga, fut l’un des dirigeants, est ouvertement critiqué pour le peu de considération à l’égard des employés journaliers et même au-delà. Le 18 décembre dernier, dans une vidéo devenue virale sur les réseaux sociaux, un groupe d’employés dénonce une zone économique qui serait devenue depuis sa mise en place « une honte ». « Nous travaillons pour des salaires de misère, 5 mille Fcfa par mois alors que les chinois gagnent 80 mille jour et travaillent dans de meilleurs conditions. Nous n’avons pas de matériel d’équipements, aucun chinois ne fait le travail que nous fessons » s’indignent ces jeunes.
Dans la même journée du 18 décembre, l’Administrateur général de la zone, Igor Simard réagit. Dans son communiqué, l’administrateur de la zone dément les informations véhiculées dans la vidéo tout en rappelant que depuis aout 2019, il a initié des campagnes de sensibilisation pour le respect des normes au travail.
