D’après un document officiel publié lors du One Forest Summit, l’industrie du bois gabonaise connaît une croissance fulgurante avec une augmentation de plus de 350% entre 2010 et 2021. Ainsi, la part de l’industrie du bois dans la richesse nationale est passée de 62 à 287 milliards de Fcfa. Cette filière est désormais le deuxième produit le plus exporté du pays, offrant ainsi de nouvelles opportunités économiques.
Par ailleurs, la zone économique spéciale de Nkok attire de nouveaux acteurs intéressés par les opportunités offertes par la filière bois gabonaise. L’industrie du bois gabonaise est en pleine expansion offrant de nouvelles opportunités économiques pour le pays.
Cette croissance s’explique notamment par la diversification de l’économie gabonaise, qui se tourne vers des filières alternatives aux ressources pétrolières. Avec l’arrivée de nouveaux acteurs intéressés par la filière bois, cette industrie devrait continuer à prospérer dans les années à venir.
En termes de production, l’industrie du bois gabonaise a connu une croissance significative au cours des dernières années. En 2019, le secteur a généré environ 2,6 millions de mètres cubes de bois scié, contre 2,3 millions de mètres cubes en 2018, soit une augmentation de près de 13%.
Le gouvernement gabonais a mis en place des politiques visant à encourager le développement de l’industrie du bois, notamment en facilitant l’obtention des autorisations d’exploitation forestière et en offrant des incitations fiscales aux entreprises qui investissent dans le secteur. Aussi, adopté des politiques pour promouvoir une exploitation plus durable de la forêt et pour encourager la transformation locale du bois. Pour maintenir la croissance de l’industrie du bois au Gabon, il est important que le pays continue à investir dans la gestion responsable des ressources forestières et à développer des partenariats solides avec des acheteurs de bois durables à l’étranger.
Toutefois, il est important de noter que l’exploitation du bois peut avoir des conséquences négatives sur l’environnement, telles que la déforestation, l’érosion des sols et la perte de biodiversité.
