La Fédération gabonaise des sports scolaires (Fegass) est une organisation sportive mise en place par le ministère de l'Education nationale pour permettre l'épanouissement et l'éclosion sportifs des élèves. Ladite structure a donc lancé, à Port-Gentil, les compétitions pour cette année. Problème, le ministère, qui en est l'initiateur, n'a pas mis les moyens d'accompagnement tant sur les plans financiers que matériels. Conséquence, l’ouverture de ces jeux, à Port-Gentil, a tourné au fiasco total.
Pour le lancement, une cérémonie a été organisée en présence des plus hautes autorités de la province, dont le gouverneur, au stade annexe du complexe Michel Essongué. Il aura fallu quelques heures seulement, pour que les problèmes liés à l’absence de moyens se fassent ressentir. Après la cérémonie de lancement, les activités vont être bloquées du fait du manque de moyens financiers et matériels.
D’après plusieurs sources, le ministère n'a débloqué aucun fonds pour l'organisation de la compétition inter-établissements. Chaque chef d'établissement était obligé d'imposer des cotisations forfaitaires aux élèves, 100 Fcfa pour chaque élève du primaire et 200 Fcfa pour ceux du secondaire.
Ce n'est pas tout. Les principaux stades, construits par l'Etat et disposant de toutes les commodités, dont les pistes d'athlétisme, ont, curieusement, été fermés aux jeux de la Fegass. A l'exemple du stade Pierre-Claver Divoungui et du Complexe Michel Essongué. Le stade Divoungui, qui est situé en plein centre-ville et qui présente une facilité de déplacement pour la plupart des établissements (primaire et secondaire), est resté fermé à double tour.
Les organisateurs vont donc privilégier d’organiser les compétitions au stade de l'Ecole nationale de football. Une infrastructure abandonnée, depuis plus de 10 ans, dans la broussaille et qui ne dispose pas d’une piste d'athlétisme pour les différentes disciplines en plus d’une aire de jeux bosselée. Conséquence, les établissements vont, une nouvelle fois, être mis à contribution (financière) pour le nettoyage de l'herbe sauvage qui y a pris place.
C’est dans ces conditions plus qu’exécrables que les jeux vont avoir lieu du 25 janvier au 09 mars 2023 tous les mercredis pour le primaire et les jeudis pour le secondaire. Pauvres élèves !
