Quand il est arrivé, au Gabon, à la fin des années 1990, il était propriétaire d’une modeste quincaillerie installée à Louis, non loin de la statue Raponda Walker, dans le premier arrondissement de la commune de Libreville. Très vite, Bernard Fokou, connaissant les mœurs de corruption et de concussion qui règne au Gabon, a su comment en tirer profit. Il va passer du modeste vendeur de matériaux de construction en un important industriel avec pignon sur rue et un siège social à Oloumi de haut standing. Sans omettre un grand magasin dans la zone portuaire à Owendo. L’année dernière, le Camerounais va même parvenir à arracher la commercialisation au Gabon de la boisson Coca-Cola après la rupture du contrat entre le géant américain et le groupe Castel dont la Société des brasseries du Gabon (Sobraga) en est la filière.
Seulement, voilà, cet important empire pourrait s’écrouler comme un château de cartes si on s’en tient aux dernières révélations du site en ligne CamerounWeb. D’après nos confrères, plusieurs entreprises du milliardaire camerounais semblent ne plus être en bonne santé. Si les employés et autres partenaires sont désormais sur le pied d’alerte, ils ont aussi à l’esprit qu’il y a six ans, le groupe Fobert n’est pas passé loin de la catastrophe après le scandale de la livraison frauduleuse de 20 mille tonnes de ciment en complicité avec l’homme d’affaires franco-italien Guido Santullo. Cinq dirigeants de cette entreprise avaient été écroués à la prison centrale de Libreville.
Il s’agissait d’André Foukou Mbah (Directeur délégué), Florentin Takougoum (Directeur délégué adjoint), Louis Bertrand Ntene Wojiwo (Informaticien), Louis David Youkep (Inspecteur général des services) et Emmanuel Jérôme Kweda (Chef de division délégué finances et comptabilité). Tous de nationalité camerounaise, ces cinq détenus étaient également poursuivis pour emploi irrégulier et immigration illégale.
