La rencontre entre le président de la Transition et l'Ambassadeur de Chine au Gabon.
Le 24 octobre dernier, par le biais du porte-parole du département américain, Matthew Miller, les Etats-Unis annonçaient la suspension totale de l’aide versée au Gabon. Cette décision, a été accueillie au pays d’Oligui Nguema « dans la plus grande indifférence », souligne dans sa livraison du jour, l’hebdomadaire La Cigale Enchantée.
Le média va plus loin en indiquant que le Gabon n’a nullement besoin, pour se développer, de l’aide d’un pays qui n’est pas un exemple de démocratie dans le monde et qui, en plus, a toujours soutenu un régime criminel et dictatorial à la tête du Gabon.
« Doit-on rappeler aux Américains que la dernière élection présidentielle dans leur pays s’est achevée par des contestations et des accusations de fraudes avec des morts d’hommes lors de l’assaut du Capitole par des partisans du président sortant, Donald Trump. Bref, le Gabon ne demande l’aumône à aucun pays et attend de profiter de cette période de transition pour poser les bases de sa reconstruction. De ce fait, il ne se laissera pas imposer un agenda international des pays qui eux même ne sont pas des exemples de démocratie. » poursuit La Cigale Enchantée.
Renforcement de la coopération avec la Chine
Preuve que le Gabon n’attend pas se laisser imposer un agenda international dans la mise en œuvre du processus de restauration des institutions, le pays d’Oligui Nguema est prêt à travailler avec les pays qui se garderont de tout chantage indécent. C’est le cas de la Chine qui, à l’occasion d’une audience accordée par le président de la Transition à son ambassadeur au Gabon, son Excellence Li Jinjin, a affirmé son soutien. Les autorités chinoises assurent être disposées à accompagner davantage le Gabon en cette période de Transition dans les projets de développement.
Il n’y a donc pas, pour le Gabon, péril en la demeure si les Etats-Unis vont jusqu’à mettre fin à toutes formes de coopération. D’autant que le poids des Etats-Unis en matière de politiques de développement au Gabon est quasiment insignifiant, souligne l’Union dans sa parution de ce vendredi 3 novembre. « La balance commerciale entre le Gabon et les Etats-Unis est pratiquement déficitaire depuis toujours » rajoute le quotidien national. Le même constat est fait par le média dans les échanges commerciaux au sein de l’AGOA. En 23 ans, il n’existe pas de chiffres susceptibles de témoigner des bénéfices du Gabon à cette organisation.
